In 1937, Simplicity entered the outdoor power equipment industry by building two-wheel walking tractors for Montgomery Ward & Company. These became so popular that an entire line of lawn and garden equipment was soon designed by Simplicity.
The first lawn and garden product made by Simplicity was a two-wheel walking tractor in 1937. The company has been making ride-on tractors since 1939 and snowthrowers since 1961. Walk behind tillers were first produced in 1955. Simplicity has history in the commercial tractor business since 1971 that was reemphasized in 1989 when the company acquired the Middlesworth Engineering company. The commercial riding mowers featured patented hydro steer design and exclusive steering wheel control for a zero turning radius. |
