In 1954, three members of the Hetteen family in Roseau , Minn. constructed 2 machines out of surplus hay conveyor parts. Five minutes after completing the second one, the snowmobile race was invented! The rest is all history, Polaris went from a private company, to being part of Textron , finally going back to independence in 1981. The introduction of the TXL 340 Indy, a machine made to be used on packed trails, saved Polaris and revitalized an entire industry. Today, Polaris Industries is a multi-billion dollar, multi-national company manufacturing unsurpassed outdoor power products. We began selling Polaris in 1967. The odds are if your grandfather took you for a ride on his Polaris snowmobile, we sold it to him. |
